In 2006, we were awarded a highly competitive $1 million project by the Government of Sri Lanka to plan and begin implementation of Asia-Pacific’s first TCP/IP high capacity National Distance Education Network (NDEN).

The heart of the project was the development of a Multi-Media Center (MMC) that would inter-link to 100 to 400 megabit wireless backbones with high performance cacheing and a multipurpose consolidated server. The MMCs were planned for installation in 150 locations across Sri Lanka and to also be connected tp an international gateway, so that they could provide ISP services in each area. The purpose of the MMCs were to would broadband residential, institutional, and business connectivity and support at the lowest price in the region.

At present, the project is still ongoing as MMCs are implemented across the country.
